16 Vehicles Were Involved in Wednesday’s Harmony-Timberline Crash

The crash that closed a portion of Harmony Road for about 12 hours from Wednesday evening into Thursday morning involved 16 vehicles.

The incident that occurred around 4:15 p.m. resulted in 22 people being treated for injuries. Five were transported to the hospital with two people sustaining serious injuries, according to a Fort Collins Police press release on the matter.

Several people had to be extricated from their vehicles by Poudre Fire Authority.

The crash was started when a Class A motorhome pulling an SUV failed to stop at a red light at the Timberline Road intersection. The motorhome collided with several vehicles.

Investigators said they are still working to understand what caused the crash and determine if the driver of the motorhome suffered a medical event.

"This was a resource-heavy incident that required strong collaboration with our partners in public safety," said Fort Collins Police Chief Jeff Swoboda. said in a press release.

"I'm grateful for the rapid response of first responders who immediately took action caring for injured people, rerouting traffic to protect those on scene, stepping up to cover other emergency calls still happening around the city, and working all night long to process the area."
