25 Beers of Christmas: Horse & Dragon Better Than Breakfast

It's the most wonderful time of the year...the time where we're celebrating one Fort Collins brewery every day in December! Welcome to the 25 Beers of Christmas.

Horse & Dragon's Better Than Breakfast Oatmeal Stout already has a delicious-sounding name, and it's got an even better story behind it, which is why we're featuring it for the 10th day of Christmas.

According to founder Carol Cochran, the beer's story began when a neighbor handed them a 'breakfast beer':

The first year Tim and I moved back here (2012) and a year and half before the brewery opened, we were on the way out to my parents’ house at about 8 a.m. on Christmas morning, and our neighbor stepped out with 2 growlers of an oatmeal stout for us to take with us.  He said, 'Sometimes family gatherings go more smoothly if you start with a breakfast beer.'  Amen to that.  It set off a great family gathering with all the adults having a beer together before any family/holiday strain could raise its head — it completely set the tone for a relaxing day together.  And we’d like to do the same for anyone who’s in need of a beer that’s Better Than Breakfast during the holidays!

A beer that cures all holiday family woes? I can't think of anything better.

The Better Than Breakfast Oatmeal Stout will be released in the brewery on December 20th, so make sure you make your way in and get your growlers just in time for Christmas morning.
