25-Year-Old Greeley Man Given Maximum Sentence for Killing Grandpa’s Friend
During his court date on Wednesday, June 5, Aaron Hoult, of Greeley, was given the maximum sentence for killing his grandpa's friend in a gruesome incident back in August of 2017.
At his April court date, 25-year-old Hoult plead guilty to one count of second-degree murder for killing Jose Pacheco, and he was told he would be facing 30 to 48 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections. Based on his most recent appearance in court, Hoult will be serving the full 48 years behind bars.
Pacheco was found dead in a detached garage at his residence on 11th Street, on August 16, 2017. It appeared that he had been stabbed to death, however firefighters initially responded to the scene after receiving a call about the garage being on fire. Throughout the investigation, it's now been determined that Hoult brutally stabbed Pacheco 21 separate times and watched him bleed to death, before lighting the garage on fire and then locking the door and leaving the deceased man inside. A motive was not made public.
