Fans of Jethro Tull are looking forward to Ian Anderson bringing them up to date on the fate of Gerald Bostock, fictional star of the band’s seminal 1972 album ‘Thick as a Brick.’ Tull frontman and founder Anderson has not only updated the story but also put together a sequel album, ‘Thick as a Brick 2,’ and a concert tour which will include performances of both ‘Brick’ albums.

Frank Zappa fans can now pre-order a special four-disc set, ‘Carnegie Hall,’ featuring two full-length shows performed on one 1971 night at New York’s famous venue by Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. Billed as a “musical marathon,” the recordings are the first ever released of that night’s shows.

Jethro Tull‘s Martin Barre plans to take some of the group’s lesser-known music on the road with a band comprised partially of Tull alumni. The guitarist is in the final stages of assembling a group to tour next year.

Rolling Stones fans have an early holiday gift from the band, a video of their long-lost song ‘No Spare Parts.’ The track was recorded for the 1978 album ‘Some Girls’ but was shelved until earlier this fall, when it was released as part of the deluxe version of that album as one of 12 “lost” songs.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers just announced a massive 2012 tour that will take them through the U.S., Canada and much of Europe. The tour will begin in April. As fans know, the band had previously announced that they would play a headlining slot at the Isle of Wright Festival on Friday, June 22, that will also include performances by Elbow, Noah and the Whale, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds

Bob Seger has announced plans to release a new studio album, and to support that record with a tour. “I will write from January 1 through March 31. I will finish the next record and right now, yes, I will tour with the next record,” Seger tells Ultimate Classic Rock.
