Busy Commuter Route Closed Between FoCo and Windsor For 2 Months
For those looking to avoid 1-25 due to constant traffic - especially in the midst of the construction going on to widen the interstate - many have taken to Larimer County Road 5 as an 'escape route' from all the road madness.
Although, that ends now - at least for two months - as escape route County Road 5 was closed on Monday (Mar. 22).
According to the Coloradoan, the closure was prompted by the widening of Larimer County Road 5 north of Colorado Highway 392 in west Windsor to accommodate increased traffic created by the second of two new housing developments along the county road.
County Road 5 is reportedly closed to through traffic on the north side at Kechter Road and on the south side at Colorado 392. Northbound and southbound traffic will be detoured west on either Kechter Road or Colorado 392 to the I-25 Frontage Road.
Larimer County Road 5 had been previously closed for a portion of this past winter to accommodate improvements next to the 100-acre Windsor Villages at Ptarmigan near its intersection with Colorado State Route 392. Those improvements included widening the road and adding roundabouts at Oakmont Lane into Ptarmigan and County Road 32.
When completed, County Road 5 will become a four-lane road along the 1.25 miles of two residential developments - Fossil Creek Meadows and Windsor Villages at Ptarmigan.
