After 111 days of burning in Northern Colorado, the Cameron Peak Fire reached 100% containment on Wednesday night (Dec. 2).

An official update was shared as crews put out the final flames in the Pingree area near the CSU mountain campus.

Thousands of firefighters from around the country were deployed to fight the fire that burned for more than three months.

At 208,913 acres, the Cameron Peak Fire is the largest in Colorado history. The fire that started on Aug. 13 eventually caused ash to rain down upon the Front Range.

Fighting the Cameron Peak Fire will cost an estimated $130 million. More than 450 structures were destroyed in the fire, including more than 220 homes.
