It's been called the "longest street in America, but it's actually the longest commercial street in the United States, running more than 26 miles through Aurora, Denver, Lakewood, and Golden.

However, in reality, Colfax extends beyond the boundaries of metro Denver. As you get beyond Aurora it follows I-70 and then US-36 picks up the Colfax name in the towns of Watkins, Bennett, and Strasburg. Some folks in Byes still use East Colfax in their address. If you were to measure Colfax from Strasburg to Golden you would find Colfax is actually more than 53 miles long.

There's a lot of history behind Colfax Avenue - some of it good and some of it bad. It's quite possible you never knew about the historical part of Colfax. A drive down Colfax today would feature a ton of used car dealers, motels, restaurants - and stop lights. There have been a lot of changes over the years.
