Colorado Sees Spike in Home Improvement Contractor Fraud Calls

There have been an increased number of calls to the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Offices regarding fraud by home improvement and hired contractors, according to KDVR.

The majority of the calls are coming from homeowners, however, some are also being reported by organizations and businesses.

The most common repair leaving behind claims of fraud is roofing. Customers are stating that they are losing communication with their contractor or are finding issues with repairs, after which they are not able get a response from the business.

The best practices to avoid being a victim of possible fraud are to get bids from several contractors and to research the organizations on the Better Business Bureau to find a credible, honest contractor.
