Colorado Senate Bill Approves Gun Training for School Teachers
Could we be seeing teacher with guns in the classroom soon? If the Colorado Senate Bill 5 passes, it would allow for school districts to decide if they want school staff members who conceal carry help with school security.
Training would be needed in a firearms course approved by local law enforcement and by the school board. In an article in The Gazette, Senator John Cooke of Greeley said "I think less guns in schools won't make us safer". In the same article Senator Daniel Kagan from Cherry Hills Village seems to be very against the bill stating "Make no mistake, this bill would increase the flow of guns onto K-12 campuses".
Predictions are that the bill could pass the Senate but flounder in the House.
