A spot once slated for a blues and barbecue establishment in Loveland will become the second location for the popular Fort Collins chicken joint.

This is great news for Downtown Loveland, lovers of fried chicken and rocket ships. I heard about this and shouted, "Yes! Awesome!" This could open the door for more Fort Collins restaurants to also make the move into Downtown Loveland.

According to the Reporter-Herald, the property where the new Comet Chicken will be (at the northwest corner of 5th Street and Cleveland, next to Verboten Brewing)  was bought for $897,400.

It was in 2018 when plans were announced that Loveland's popular restauranteur, Chef Clay, was part of a team set to bring 'Miss Daisy's Blues and BBQ' to the corner. Those plans didn't work out, though a lot of the renovation had taken place.

Comet Chicken is owned by the same people that own the Moot House, Big Al's, and Austin's in Fort Collins; this is the first venture into Loveland for the local company.

The timing couldn't be better for this, as on the opposite corner at 5th Street and Cleveland the Cleveland Station is being constructed, which will be featuring dining, retail, and a new bar. This part of Downtown is starting to heat up.

Vatos Tacos opened their second location in Downtown Loveland a couple of years ago in The Foundry. It's good to have some of the Choice City in Loveland.

Comet Chicken in Fort Collins is located on Mountain Avenue in Old Town; I just got to thinking about what other restaurants on Mountain could expand to Downtown Loveland: right off the bat, you'd have to say, 'The Rio,' right?
