I worked in a call center a long time ago, and every now & then I'd talk to someone in Connecticut (or somewhere thereabouts) who would tell me I have a "western accent."  I wasn't sure how to respond.  Later on, I took a radio move to Vermont, where I was not only told I have this "Midwestern 'nice' thing going on," (okay, I just try not to be a jerk,) but also that I enunciate too perfectly.  Soooo, you can totally understand me, and I'm easy to get along with... but that's weird?  I guess that's just one reason it didn't take me long to come back home.

What IS a "western accent?"  I think we talk more perfectly in Colorado than everywhere else.  In fact, it's not unusual for us to sound intelligent.
