Erie, Colorado's annual event brings over 20,000 people to town each year, because it's good old fashioned fun, and has a balloon launch.

Bring the family out early, as the event begins both Saturday and Sunday morning at 6 a.m.

Erie does many events for the community, but this is the biggest of the year, a fun way for the family to start getting into the summer events.

Balloon Launches

  • Located: Due west of Erie High School
  • Weather Permitting
  • Inflating begins at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Sunday

Reverend Richard J. Van Valkenburg of Erie, Pennsylvania helped to found Erie, Colorado, naming it after his hometown. In the late 1800's Erie's coal mines helped to fuel steam locomotives.
