Okay, so they're not actually bringing you home for the holidays. But they will be bringing you to gingerbread homes...lots of them.

Gingerbread: Home for the Holidays is a decorating extravaganza that takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 7 at the Shops at Foothills in Fort Collins.

If you want to bring out your inner decorator, consider forming a team to sponsor a gingerbread house.

For $500, sponsors can decorate a pre-built gingerbread house and enjoy recognition on social media and at the event.

Teams who are really in the Christmas spirit can donate $1,000 to decorate three gingerbread houses, along with extra social media perks.

These donations go towards the Fort Collins Eyeopeners Kiwanis Club, a volunteer organization serving children, families, and the Northern Colorado community.

"We support the key clubs and all of the high schools in Fort Collins...we also support a number of other organizations," said Jim O'Neill, club member and co-chair of the event. "We're always looking for non-profits that need our help."

This support comes in the form of various projects, including the Annual Kids Fishing Derby, which allows club members to teach over 200 children how to fish for the first time.

The club's other endeavors include volunteering at the Weld and Larimer County food banks, as well as working with the Voices Carry Child Advocacy Center to help prevent child abuse.

Whether or not you are able to sponsor a house, anyone is welcome to come to the mall and observe the decorating. Judges will then determine which gingerbread houses are the best.
