Former Severance Mayor Faces Felony Charge; Allegedly Solicited Child Prostitute
Donald McLeod, former Severance Mayor officially resigned from his post following reports of an incident on April 5. That incident, according to The Denver Channel, involved a 17-year-old boy and the former mayor, who had met up in a Greeley park after meeting on the app Grindr.
The boy, according to an affidavit, lied about his name and age on the app and sent inappropriate pictures to him, and received them from the former mayor as well. The teen originally told police that they had planned to meet in the park to discuss a potential construction job, then broke down and admitted they had planned to meet up to have sex for money, according to the report.
The two were discovered that night in a white van in a Greeley park by police. The next night, McLeod resigned from his post as mayor.
Greeley Police arrested McLeod on September 9 after he turned himself in, according to the Greeley Tribune, and he is now facing charges of patronizing a prostituted child.
