Fort Collins Area Cities as ‘Christmas Vacation’ Characters
It's one of the most-popular Chevy Chase movies as well as one of the most-popular Christmas movies. What if the characters were Northern Colorado towns?
Poor Clark. W. Griswold Jr; the man just can't get a break when it comes to spending time with his family. The trip to Wally World alone would have put most of us off doing anything with family ever again. Clark pressed on, however, by taking the Griswold clan to Europe. What's French for 'Bad Idea?'
After Europe, it's understandable that Clark would wait four years to gather the family again for 'Christmas Vacation' in 1989.
There are a lot of great characters in that movie, including the classic performance by Randy Quaid as 'Cousin Eddie,' an inspired role for sure. Chevy as 'Clark,' Beverly D'Angelo as 'Ellen,' and the kids, 'Audrey' and 'Rusty,' played, yet again, by new cast members Juliette Lewis and Johnny Galecki.
What if were to represent some of the characters with some of the towns around Fort Collins? Which city would be Clark, which would be Eddie? Who would be the 'girl in the pool?'
Executing such a project, you are bound to get pushback, but that's all part of the fun, much like watching the movie - fun. Of course, the choices are up for interpretation, nothing is set in stone; though you could see some folks pitching a classic 'Clark Griswold Meltdown Fit' at some of the picks.
Come everyone, gather 'round and behold: 'Cities/Towns Around Fort Collins as 'Christmas Vacation' Characters.'
