During the first week of October, Diana Clements learned that her beloved costume store, Princess Paradise, would close its doors after nearly 40 years in business.

Princess Paradise is a wholesale costume company that Clements started out of her Fort Collins home. Back in the early '80s, Clements' costumes caught the attention of Disney.

Before long, Disney had become one of her best clients for whom she was producing costumes, accessories and different types of apparel. Before long, she moved her business to an 8,5000 square foot warehouse on Harmony Road.

In the 1990s, Clements moved Princess Paradise's production to China and Tawain, according to the Coloradoan.

In 2013 she sold her business to Rubie's Costume Co. and they kept Clements on staff to continue acting as the president of Princess Paradise.

Clements told the Coloradoan that, in recent years, the company would sell between 300,000 and 500,000 wholesale costumes to a mix of in-person and online retailers. Princess Paradise has produced costume orders fo retailers like Target and Walmart.

In April, after facing millions in cancelled orders, Rubies Costume Co. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Clements made it clear that she had no plans to retire, telling the Coloradoan that she will stay in the costume industry.
