Fort Collins Named One of the Worst Cities for Football Fans
Hey, we can't top every list, and we certainly made it close to the bottom of WalletHub's Best and Worst Cities for Football Fans, as we head into Super Bowl LV weekend. Not sure everyone's going to agree with this one (as someone who lives a block from CSU's on-campus stadium, I'm not sure I do).
What's weird is that our town full of Ram fans came in at 227 when it comes to college football fans (that's bad), but is number 31 for pro football fans (Go Broncos!). Overall, Fort Collins ranked number 236, in the company of St. George, UT, Stephenville, TX, Providence, RI and Valparaiso, IN, which I have pretty much never heard of.
'WalletHub compared more than 240 U.S. cities with at least one college or professional football team across 21 key metrics. Our data set ranges from the number of NFL and college football teams to stadium capacity to fan engagement.'
Those key metrics include things like number of NFL teams, number of college teams, fan engagement, ticket prices and even stadium capacity (though, for now, we're all watching from our couches).
During the 2020 season, the CSU Rams saw more losses than wins (but they did beat Wyoming). As for the Denver Broncos, well, it wasn't their best season either. But, that never stopped anyone from a good tailgate, last time I checked.
