Do you rely on a car for most everything here in Northern Colorado?

I admit it, I'm guilty of this. Being from Texas originally, you had to drive everywhere since the city I grew up in wasn't bike-friendly at all. Fort Collins is a totally different story: with bike lanes, public bus systems and easy-to-navigate trails, it's easy to ditch your car.

That's exactly what the City of Fort Collins wants you do to this month, and why they've created Shift Your Ride Month for September of 2020. On their website, the city has one simple ask:

We're asking the Fort Collins community to pledge to Shift just one trip per week to an active, sustainable mode and go car-free. By taking the pledge and Shifting Your Ride, you could win a free bike! (Source)

The City wants 1,500 community members to join the Shift Your Ride Challenge, which means going car-free for at least one extra trip per week than they did before. This could mean, for example, taking a bike ride to dinner in Old Town on a Friday night, or utilizing your bike basket on a trip to the store.

Join the challenge, win a bike...seems easy enough to us! Learn more right here.

If you're interested in Shift Your Ride, check out the Sustainable Solutions Virtual Event by the Sustainable Living Association. This is happening September 18 through the 20, and celebrates 20 years of sustainable initiatives. You can also catch a fun Driveway Jam Session on September 19th from 5 to 7 p.m. on Retro 102.5, hosted by JB.
