Heads-up, Fort Collins: there's a new barbecue favorite in town.

If you've never heard of Smōk before, you've probably never been to The Source in Denver. My boyfriend and I regularly stop at the hotel before seeing a show at The Mission Ballroom down the street, primarily so that we can order burnt ends and smoked chicken at the casual eatery located within the first floor of the hotel. The food is delicious, the service is great, and the wait times are nearly nonexistent: all things that I love when it comes to a restaurant.

Coming to Fort Collins

When Smōk announced that they were bringing their brisket to Fort Collins, we were ecstatic. October 19 was officially their opening day, so last night, my boyfriend and I piled into the car to see if that Denver magic had carried over to the Foothills Mall.

Once You Find It, It Doesn't Disappoint

Smōk in Fort Collins is a little hidden if you don't know where to look: located right outside the entrance to Cinemark Movie Bistro, the barbecue joint looks modern and cool, the perfect antidote to down-home barbecue cliches.

Smōk features a fun happy hour between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. with $4 drafts as well as bar snacks like Nashville Hot Tots and Smoked Jerk Wings. Not only that, but the restaurant is known for its meats: like I said earlier, my boyfriend frequently orders the Burnt Ends Sandwich while I always lean towards the Smoked Chicken Sandwich with white barbecue sauce. However, you can order your meats by the quarter-pound, too, in order to really take in the smokiness and rich flavors of the meal.

Insider tip: DO NOT sleep on the mac n' cheese. It's truly incredible.

Overall, I highly recommend you stop by Smōk this weekend after you catch Dune at the Cinema Movie Bistro, or even just after a long day of window shopping at the mall. Bring your most avid barbecue fans and you'll have a fun meal to remember: I guarantee it.
