Most people think the only way the internet can reduce a guy’s chances of having children is because of games like World of Warcraft lowering sex appeal. But that’s not the real reason the internet is risking a man’s chances for reproducing. WiFi is actually harming sperm.

According to a new study released by scientists from the Nascentis Center for Reproductive Medicine in Cordoba, Argentina, computers receiving WiFi signals cause damage to sperm.

Researchers put specimens of healthy sperm under a laptop that was connected to the internet using a wireless connection. They found that after four hours next to the WiFi-connected computer, 25 percent of the sperm had stopped moving and nine percent actually showed DNA damage. They also reported that semen kept at the same temperature away from the WiFi showed only a 14 percent drop in mobility and only three percent suffered any DNA damage.

This means that not only can a warm computer on a man’s lap cause motility issues with his sperm, as we’ve heard in the past, but the WiFi connection could also be damaging them, making it more difficult for him to reproduce in the future. Even if he does eventually get done playing the newest version of Call of Duty and leave the house.
