The Colorado Rockies were officially born in 1991 when the city was awarded a Major League Baseball franchise. They started play two years later and finally got their beautiful new home in 1995 as Coors Field set the tone and was the blueprint for many other ballparks to be built in the time since then.

The Rockies, while having some really exciting teams over the years, especially early on, have only made the postseason four times in their history including one World Series birth in 2007 when they were swept by the Boston Red Sox.

Even though the Rockies have never been recognized as one of the elite franchises in baseball, the team has had its fair share of great players and talented people don the purple, silver, and black uniform.

Back in the mid-90s, when the Rockies had arguably one of the best lineups in baseball loaded with power as balls seemed to be flying out of Coors Field at a record pace, the team just couldn't quite put a pitching staff together to match the talent of the lineup.

Those years, while exciting, seemed to be wasted as the team would never make the World Series, even with names like Bichette, Galarraga, Castilla, and more terrifying opposing pitchers.

Even recently, we've had some nice players roll through here only to be traded away after a few seasons of futility. Nolan Arenado and Trevor Story just to name a couple.

So I thought it would be fun - and, I'll be honest, a little frustrating - to look back at some of the best players in Colorado Rockies history and come up with a dream lineup.

When you look at these guys collectively, it's a who's who of Major League talent and it kind of makes you wonder how this franchise hasn't made more noise and at least had a few more postseason appearances.

For now, though, I'd put this lineup against anyone and feel confident about it.

Ladies and gentlemen, let's meet your dream Colorado Rockies lineup which was a lot harder to pick than I thought it was going to be.

Agree? Disagree? Feel free to chime in.
