Colorado Dog Returns from 5 Week Mountain Hike
Colorado, if nothing else, is known for its mountains. People come from around the world just to see the majestic beauty of the Colorado landscape, and rarely are they disappointed. I know we say this a lot, but we're very lucky to live where we live. You're especially lucky to live in the Centennial State if you love to hike, because boy oh boy does Colorado have you covered on that front.
A good hike is not only healthy for you, but it can also serve as an escape. So long as you're not one to hike with friends, the time to yourself can help bring you clarity, and even give you some perspective on things you wouldn't have been able to have otherwise. Everybody needs that, even our pets.
That's what I like to assume is what happened with the Colorado dog that was recently found by a mountain hiker, miles away from home. His name is Riley, he is an 8-year-old Sheltie, and he had been missing for over five weeks. He was recently returned to his owner, Mike, in Breckenridge, and the reunion is the kind of stuff that warms your heart.
Again, I like to assume that Riley decided to wander around 4 miles away from his house because he just needed some solo puppy-time. Still, I'm happy that he was able to make it home, since he was in some serious danger before being rescued. Since he seems to be healthy after returning home, let's just chalk this one up to dogs and their insatiable curiosity. Hopefully, Riley will hike a little closer to home next time.
