The holidays are here and millions of Coloradans are decorating. Christmas trees, the most common holiday decorations are going up in millions of households in Colorado.

There have been heated debates over the past 20 years regarding Christmas trees. It boils down to one question.

Reason #1: They Are Looking More and More Real

Remember in the early 2000s when artificial trees started becoming popular? Artificial Christmas trees used to look like shredded plastic bags that were scotch taped to a broomstick.

That is not the case anymore. I recently had someone ask me what farm I got my Christmas tree from. They were shocked when I told them that my tree was artificial.

I was disappointed when I purchased my first artificial tree that the classic smell was gone. You can purchase Christmas tree-scented candles or stick scented ornaments on your tree.

Reason #2: Real Trees Pose Safety Concerns and Health Concerns for Some

There was a strange story that came out recently about Christmas Tree Syndrome. The story talked about how bringing in a tree from outside can harm your health due to allergens, dust, mold, and pesticides on the tree.

A woman in Ohio went into anaphylactic shock because of her Christmas tree.

If real Christmas trees are not watered and taken care of properly, they can become a major fire hazard in your household.

Reason #3: Artificial Trees Are Better For the Environment

While you have been reading this you have most likely concluded that I am against real Christmas trees. That couldn't be further from the truth.

I think real trees are great. They support Colorado tree farms and they are superior. Artificial trees are just more sustainable and attainable.

Artificial trees are better for the environment because you can use them over and over again. I have had mine for four years.
