Colorado's Points Based Driver's License
Coloradans who have a driver's license know all about the points system. A Colorado driver starts out with zero points on their license. Each traffic infraction can add points to your driver's license. The Colorado Department of Revenue says your driver's license can be suspended if you are an adult and accumulate 12 points within 12 months and 18 points or more within any 24 months. According to bresee.com, there are only five traffic infractions that can instantly tack on 12 points to your driver's license.
- Leaving the scene of an accident
- Evading an officer
- Speed contest
- Driving under the influence
- Speeding over 40 mph
The driver could face not only hefty fines for needless and dangerous speeding, the driver can also lose their license as they were caught going 63 miles per hour over the speed limit. Drive safe.
