Missing Colorado Child Found Driving Stolen Golf Cart Through Town

A Missing Child Report Sends Deputies Into Action

Parents know that they need to keep a close eye on their kids, especially if they like to wander off. One Colorado child on the western slopes decided it would be a phenomenal idea to carjack a golf cart and go for a joyride.

Needless to say, this caused quite the panic in the community of Palisade, Colorado. According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, the child went missing on Saturday, November 16.

Deputies responded to a call of a missing child at approximately 7:55 a.m., prompting a canvas of the area and reverse 911 calls being made to residents in the community. Minutes after the reverse 911 call was issued, a resident called to report a child sitting on a golf cart in the 100 block of West 1st Street.

Another reverse 911 call went out, this time to a larger radius, informing residents that the child was on a golf cart. More calls came in about the child, this time regarding a change in the direction of travel.

The golf cart was traveling northbound and was spotted by deputies as it drove up 29 Road, where an officer was able to jump onto and stop the golf cart at 9:15 a.m., ending the incident.

Child and Golf Cart Safely Returned

The child was returned home, and the golf cart was returned to its rightful owner. The Mesa County Sheriff's Office says that no one was harmed during the incident.
