Reintroducing animals to Colorado is a hot-button issue right now. Wolves are continuing to be reintroduced to the Centennial State and will continue to be reintroduced through the next five years.

Colorado is projected to spend $4.6 million on fully submerging wolves back in the state. A few wolves have been successfully reintroduced and will be tracked via GPS. More animals could be returning to Colorado soon and is expected to be a highly debated issue.

It is imperative to say that wolverines are different than wolves. Wolverines are part of the weasel family and wolves are part of the wolf family. They are entirely different animals that simply have a similar name.

There are many organizations trying to increase the wolverine population across the nation. The U.S. government safeguards wolverines under the Endangered Species Act.

Wolverines thrive in snow covered environments and Colorado is the ideal home for the species.

Like the wolf reintroduction, this will be costly to the state of Colorado and there will be politically charged debates for quite some time.

The difference is wolverines are not as big of a predator to livestock compared to wolves.
