Fort Collins' Lyric Cinema Takes Issue with Restrooms Situation at Buell Theatre

Ben Mozer, the owner of The Lyric, made a point to discuss the men's restrooms situation within his monthly newsletter. The newsletter is mostly made up of upcoming/current movies, but often Ben gives commentary on all sorts of things; things like bathrooms.

While being the largest theatre in the DCPA complex, the Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre is known to rank among the highest-grossing venues under 5,000 seats (@2,800.) With nearly 3,000 patrons seeing a show, many will need to use the restrooms. Ben pointed out his frustration when taking the family to see "Phantom of the Opera" in late March.

Ben found that for every two women's restrooms there was one men's room with "only one toilet and two urinals." The situation was a further frustration for The Lyric's owner, as when they opened the new Lyric, they found much stricter rules about restrooms:

…I find this particularly outrageous considering the process I had to go through to get our bathrooms approved with only a 400 seat capacity theater (in total).

Being that the the Buell was converted from being the Denver Auditorium Arena into the Buell in 1991, more than three decades have passed; maybe it is time to take a look at upgrading the restrooms.
