Bull Elk Gets Lost in Denver Looking for Love
Bull Elk in Colorado get "randy" in mid-September through mid-October (generally;) it's the rut season.
They go on search of a mate. Sometimes that search takes them way off track, into the streets, instead of the woods.
A bull elk was found wondering for several miles through the Denver area during rut season of 2024; it did not find love, but did find folks to help him out.
"A friend in need..." as they say.

Generally, it's best to give bull elk their distance, as they can become assertive, especially during mating season. This situation called for intervention, however.
In 1980, Johnny Lee had the big hit, "Looking for Love," where the person in the song is in all the wrong places, trying to find a companion. The song applies to this bull elk, who we'll name "Johnny." He was definitely in the wrong place, if he was looking for some "companionship."

During the weekend of September 21 and 22 of 2024, Johnny made his way from Lakewood, from Lakewood into Denver, and from Denver to Englewood; all in all, about 15 miles, coming up empty in the "love" department.
They subdued Johnny and got him to wildlife area more friendly to a suiter "looking for love."
