It would seem that we in Colorado are having a hard time sounding "hip," as they've put together a list of the 10 slang terms/words that we're searching to understand the most.

It's just the way the world works, as with an increase in social media, and viral videos, and just the things that people are talking about, new slang terms enter Colorado's vernacular.

Getting to know these new slang terms will give you the ammunition you need to maintain a conversation with some of our younger Coloradans, or to just understand what the heck that they're trying to say.

Colorado's 10 Most-Searched Slang Terms for 2024

The team at WordUnscrambler.com, an online tool that unscrambles scrambled words and solves word games, looked at the most-searched slang words from January 1, 2024 to October 25, 2024. They did so for both all of America and for individual states, including Colorado.

When looking at the two lists (Colorado vs. America) it's interesting to see words on America's most-searched that do not appear on Colorado's list. "Sobriquet" for example, is not in Colorado's top 10, but is for the county.

Using slang can be a fun way to talk about the ordinary; why call it "enjoyable," when you can call it "cool," right? How many of these slang terms/words being used in 2024 will still be around 20 or 30 years from now? Probably not many; new ones come along and knock the old ones off.
