Denver Broncos Schedule Keeps Changing As They Make Playoff Push
The Denver Broncos - having defeated the Indianapolis Colts Sunday 31-13 - are now sitting pretty with just three games left to play in the regular season. Their 9-5 record currently has them sitting in the #6 seed for playoffs in the AFC, one spot ahead of the Los Angeles Chargers who they face this Thursday night.
That game was flexed into Thursday Night Football from the regular Sunday slate by the NFL, who determined that the Browns-Bengals game didn't matter enough to be a national game, and the Broncos-Chargers game with its playoff implications was more "must see TV" for their Amazon Thursday Night game.
That's the price of having success, ever since the NFL introduced "flexing" games into more prominent tv spots based on interest in the game. And it's happened again.
After the Thursday night game at Los Angeles, the Broncos will travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals, who - let's just say - haven't had quite the year most people were expecting. But as the Broncos make that final playoff push, the league has determined that Denver and Cincy will play the rare Saturday slot, the weekend after Christmas, as one of the highlighted games of the week. They were originally supposed to play Sunday, December 29th, but Head Coach Sean Payton told the media today about the schedule change.
After that game, the Broncos close out their season with a looming date on the calendar with their old nemesis - the Kansas City Chiefs come to town for Week 17. That's going to be a good one, regardless.
