"Here today, gone tomorrow" seems to be the phrase all too often said when it comes to restaurants in particular across the country, even right here in Northern Colorado.

The countless number of fine dining, fast casual and specialty dining establishments that have shut down in the last handful of years due to rising costs and lack of staff is pretty staggering - in fact, you can scroll to the bottom of this article to check out a very, very long list.

There's another Northern Colorado sandwich shop that can be added to it, and it's one of those type places you always would have assumed was bulletproof as one of the most successful sandwich franchises in the entire country.

Regular customers of the Subway location, at 17th and Main in Longmont arrived to a sign posted on the door the other day that reads:

It is with great sadness that as of 12/09/24 THIS LOCATION will be permanently closed.
Thank you to our loyal customers!!!!
Please come visit us and the same great staff at THE SUBWAY at 965 S Hoover St.

To be fair, if the note on the door is accurate, it sounds like the staff - or at least some, hopefully most of them - got to keep their jobs, just in a different location likely owned by the same franchisee.

The main Subway website still lists the store as one of its locations, but the store's hours all say CLOSED each of the 7 days of the week. What will happen to the location, nobody knows, but surely someone else will move in there eventually and give it a shot. No word on whether or not they'll offer foot longs and at what price.
