See ‘The Shining’ On the Big Screen at a Historic Colorado Movie Theater

One of the greatest horror movies ever made will be playing on the big screen, in Colorado at the oldest movie theater in Colorado and America.

What an opportunity this will be take it all in again, or to introduce friends/family to the movie that put Colorado's Stanley Hotel on the map. No pausing, no commercials; only the sheer terror of Jack Torrance.

Stephen King wrote his novel, "The Shining" after a fateful stay at The Stanley Hotel back in 1974. Six years after the book's release, the movie rendition came to movie theaters across the country, scaring the bajeezers out of the masses.

"The Shining" movie would be the catalyst for a transformation of The Stanley. Instead of people coming to stay at hotel because of its beauty, and stateliness, people starting coming to see if the hotel is haunted, and to see where the horror story was inspired.

Not many movies can hold up to "The Shining" in the way that Jack Nicholson goes from an "everyday Joe," to a crazed madman out to kill his wife and son.  That scene with the axe and the bathroom door is one of the most-chilling ever shot.

"The Shining" will be playing at the oldest movie theater, not only in Colorado but all of America, when it shows at the Historic Park Theatre in Estes Park.

The Historic Park Theatre opened in 1913, and is America's oldest single house movie theater that was constructed as a movie theater and is still in operation.

They have 224 seats, all of which have a great view of the big screen, for when Jack Torrance yell, "Here's Johnny!"

When Will 'The Shining' Be Showing at Park Theatre?

In conjunction with Frozen Dead Guy Day(s) coming to Estes Park, it will be showing for three days:

• Friday, March 15.
• Saturday, March 16
• Sunday March 17.

All days will have showings at both 1:45 p.m. and at 7:15 p.m. If you're a little uneasy about seeing the movie at night you can go during the day, or your can dive right in and see it at night.

Tickets are $12 to see the movie.
