Colorado Eagles Secure Playoff Birth For The 2022-23 Season

This past weekend, the Colorado Eagles, who are the proud AHL affiliate of the current Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche, punched their ticket to the 2023 Calder Cup Playoffs. A quick confirmation text from the "voice of the Colorado Eagles," Kevin McGlue, confirmed that our Eagles have made it to the postseason every single year that the playoffs have happened (the 2020 season ended early because of COVID) in their 20-year history, which is no easy feat.

With only about 7 regular season games left, only two of those being home games, every win matters heading into the playoffs. If they can't secure home ice for the first round, they'll have to play the entire first round on the road. Should that scare anyone? No, as the Eagles have historically played really well in the postseason on the road, In fact, both of the Kelly Cup Championships were won on the road.

I'll never forget hosting those watch parties... The first Kelly Cup-winning watch party was held at the Summit in Windsor. My good buddy Shawn Patrick and I hosted that event. That place was packed and went insane when that final buzzer sounded. We also hosted the second Kelly Cup Championship watch party at the Budweiser Events Center together. I still have pictures of me jumping up and down on the stage in the middle of the arena as they secured the win to secure that back-to-back run. What a special couple of seasons. Can they do it again this year and bring home our first Calder Cup?

If the Eagles can stay healthy, or for that matter, the Avalanche can stay healthy, we have a great shot at a deep run in the playoffs with great potential to bring home the biggest prize in the entire AHL. The last two regular season home games will be at the Budweiser Events Center on Friday, April 14th, and Saturday, April 15th for "fan appreciation night." Let's pack the barn and help our boys secure home ice advantage for round one. Go Eagles!
