A Colorado brewery, that has five locations across Colorado, has been named as the Best Brewery in Colorado by AXIOS Denver. Many may not have heard of them, but I bet they've heard of the blockbuster movie from the '70s that it reminds me of.

While many talk about how the craft beer industry has seen it's heyday come and go, these guys look to be sticking around for years to come. They've won awards and their communities hearts; they're doing something right.

While they don't come right out and say it, their name harkens back to a fun movie from the 1970s, about beer.

Colorado Brewery Based Out of Lafayette, Voted as State's Best

The team at AXIOS Denver, surveyed over 200 craft beer professionals and craft beer fans to find who they believed was the best brewery for 2024. Considering how many craft breweries that there are in Colorado, making it to the top of the list is quite a feat.

Westbound & Down Voted Colorado's Best Brewery

Established in 2015, Westbound & Down has seen tremendous success in it's short existence. There are very few craft breweries that have more than one locations, Westbound & Down has five: Lafayette, Denver, Idaho Springs, Basalt, and Aspen.

I'm not as into craft beer as I once was, which seems to be the case for a lot of Coloradans, but you would think I would have heard of them before AXIOS's list came out. They do seem to have a very cool vibe, though.

Did Westbound & Down Name Their Brewery After 'Smokey & The Bandit?'

You just have assume that the Westbound & Down team are fans of the 1977 blockbuster starring Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Jackie Gleason, and Jerry Reed. Reed, of course, sang the movie's theme song: "East Bound & Down."

Why not attach your Colorado craft brewery to a movie about bootlegging Colorado's legendary Coors beer across the country?  Very fun.
