Right here in Northern Colorado, there’s an incredible event that takes place each Labor Day weekend is a can’t miss; the Windsor Harvest Festival.

There’s a really fun parade along with fantastic vendors. There’s also a really great pie eating contest as well.

One of the biggest draws for the Windsor Harvest Festival, however, is the opportunity to be able to ride in a hot air balloon.

However, while there’s plenty of fantastic things to do over the holiday weekend, many people will be traveling outside of Colorado.

With that being said, it is worth noting that this weekend is likely going to be an absolute nightmare for anyone flying this Labor Day weekend.

Denver International Airport to See Record Travelers During Labor Day Weekend

As one of the busiest airports in the entire country, Denver International Airport sees a ton of traffic whenever there’s a holiday weekend.

That will be no different this Labor Day weekend. In fact, it will likely be worse than ever.

Last year from August 31st to September 4th, there were a total of 410,000 passengers who went through DIA.

Experts and airport officials are now expecting a noticeable uptick this year. They are estimating that about 444,500 passengers will be going through security checkpoints at DIA this coming weekend.

This means that if you’re going to be flying this weekend, you can expect rather long waiting times at security.

How to Prepare for Travel During a Holiday Weekend?

If you are able to get it on time, Denver International Airport has a system called DEN Reserve that allows passengers to skip the lines at regular security. 

However, the best advice is pretty simple, just get to the airport early enough so that long lines are not going to be a problem.

Plus, while lines can get absolutely absurd at DIA, we have found that the staff working there does a great job of getting through the line quickly and efficiently.
