Take a Virtual Tour of the Richest Gold Mine in Colorado History
Colorado's statehood in 1876 is largely credited to the mining boom that took place, bringing hordes of settlers to the Rocky Mountains and beyond.
While most of the mines that were around during this period of time have since been closed, abandoned, and forgotten, one massive mining operation in the old west mining town of Cripple Creek is not only still operating, but is considered the richest mine of the state's history.

Colorado's Richest Mine in History is the Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mine
The Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mine was first established in 1892 after gold was discovered in the area roughly two years beforehand.
Since beginning its operations, the mine has produced an estimated 23 million ounces of the precious metal and shows no sign of slowing down. In fact, the Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mine is also considered the only remaining significant producer of gold in Colorado.
As you'll see below, the mine is absolutely massive and just one look at it will make it clear that it has been successfully operating for many years.
The mine utilizes a fleet of heavy machinery, each of which is significantly larger than anything you'd ever find on a residential job site.
