Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church was built back in 1907 at 909 Robinson Avenue, where it still stands today. Mt. Carmel was a Catholic church and was frequented by a largely Italian American community that called Trinidad home.

Trinidad Colorado's Mt. Carmel Gets a Facelift

In 2007, Mt. Carmel had become a sorry shell of its former self, and the future of the building remained in question. The roof was caved in in certain areas, the windows were barred, and the memory of the building that stood on Robinson Avenue back in the early 1900s was just that, a memory.

However, some concerned citizens got together and not only revamped the building, but transformed Mt. Carmel into not just a church, but added a health and wellness center as well.

Today, Mt. Carmel's chapel is in much better shape, and the building is the only one of its kind in Trinidad to offer medical, health and wellness care, and has its own chapel onsite as well.
