Here's another incentive to pile on the bug spray this summer: a pool of West Nile Virus-positive mosquitoes has been found in Larimer County.

According to a press release, "positive mosquitoes were found in northeast and southeast Fort Collins, Loveland, and Berthoud." Thankfully, there have been no human cases of West Nile reported thus far.

As we continue to avoid large outdoor gatherings, it's important to also focus on avoiding these outdoor biters: West Nile is a viral infection that can cause symptoms like "hospitalization, critical illness, chronic disability, or even death," according to Larimer County.

The county encourages everyone to use effective mosquito repellent, to avoid exposure from dusk to dawn, to wear long sleeves and pants and to remove standing water in your yard or garden.
