Larimer County Reports Steep Rise in Amount of Rabid Skunks
Larimer County has a skinks problem. Between 2014 and 2017, there were only two reported rabid skunks. Since 2018, however, the number has skyrocketed.
Nobody wants to cross paths with a skunk at all, let alone a rabid one. I think humans are smart enough to stay as far away as they can, but pets may not be so smart, that's why it's a concern.
Hard to believe that between 2014 and 2017 there were only two reported skunks that tested positive for rabies, where in contrast, since the beginning of 2018 until now there have been FIFTY-FIVE that have tested positive. 55. Wow.
Looking at the map, the locations of the reported rabid skunks fall on the west side of I-25 and north of Highway 14.
