Larimer: October 20, 2021 at Noon, Indoor Mask Mandate Back In Place
Nobody likes to hear the news, Larimer County does not relish delivering the news, but here we are, back again.
Regardless of vaccination status, those 3 and older will be under the order from Larimer County Department of Health and Environment, to wear masks indoors in public places, beginning at Noon on Wednesday, October 20, 2021.
The order will be in effect until these FOUR metrics regarding COVID in Larimer County are met:
THE FOUR METRICS
- Less than 65 COVID patients in the Larimer County hospitals.
- Intensive Care Unit utilization at less than 90% of usual and customary levels.
- A Larimer County 7-Day Case Rate of less than 300 for every 100,000.
- A Larimer County 7-Day Test Positivity Rate of under 10%.
With luck, we'll be through this round by the time the holidays roll around.
There are more than a few questions about the mandate that the County is answering, including:
Why get vaccinated if we have to wear a mask, anyway?
From Larimer County:
Vaccination is still the most important tool we have to stop this pandemic. Vaccination is not only effective in reducing the likelihood that someone may catch COVID-19, but those who are fully vaccinated also have significantly less risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and death due to COVID-19. Each layer of prevention further reduces the risk of acquiring COVID-19, and multiple strategies such as mask-wearing, vaccination, and even adequate ventilation, can work together to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
As you can imagine, the news is garnering both approval and disapproval from the public:
We will just take our tax revenue somewhere else. Done with your stupidity.
If a business has a sign on the door requesting that we wear masks, I probably will. I've gotten the vaccine. That being said, the county didn't enforce the mask mandate the first time around, so I seriously doubt they will bother this time.
