Not quite Fifty Shades of Grey.

A judge sentenced a local erotica author to two years in prison and ten years of probation for an extensive money-laundering scheme that came to a head in 2016.

51-year-old Jana Koretko pleaded guilty to Money Laundering, a class 3 felony, in December of 2019.

According to a press release from the Weld County District Attorney's Office, she used a variety of pen names, including Jana Leigh, RA Baker, and Shelby Lynn, when writing her books.

She also started JK Publishing, which signed multiple authors and used Amazon, iTunes, and Barnes & Noble to sell their books.

The signed authors began to suspect Koretko was stealing money royalties from them in 2016. They reported her to the Weld County DA's Office.

Investigators discovered that Koretko was making much more in book sales than she was reporting to her authors. In one case, she stole almost $100,000 from a single author.

Lynn Ray Lewis and Ryder Dane are some of the authors that fell victim to Koretko's crimes.

Additionally, she failed to report the extra income on her taxes, and tried to use false tax returns to get financial aid for her daughter's college tuition.

On top of her two-year jail sentence, the judge ordered Koretko to pay almost $200,000 back to her victims.

If she fails to pay, she faces up to 12 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections.
