Loveland Man May Not Have to Serve Any Jail Time for Child Porn

A Loveland man who was caught with a massive collection of child pornography was given a deferred sentence of four years by Larimer County Judge Laurie Dean on February 13.

Stephen Ralph Yaden, 31, pleaded guilty in December to sexual exploitation of a child by possessing 20 or more videos containing the sexual abuse of a child.

Instead of jail time, Yaden was given a deferred sentence after he completes four years of supervised probation. A deferred sentence means that if Yaden fulfills his sentence, then the guilty plea will be withdrawn and the conviction will come off his record.

Before his conviction, Yaden was completing on a 70-day work release sentence as an inmate in the Larimer County Alternate Sentencing Department. According to the Loveland Reporter-Herald, he was on work release for driving while impaired.

During his work release, a staff member suspected that he had been at an "unauthorized location outside the facility."

At this point, they seized his cellphone and found approximately 150 photos of child sexual abuse within it. The phone was then turned over to the Larimer County Sheriff.
