Loveland Police’s ‘Puffer Week’ Coming January 26

Loveland Police will be making sure folks are letting their cars warm up correctly; otherwise, it's going to mean a traffic citation. 

This may or may not be a factor next week, as it doesn't look like it wil be getting that cold; but if you like to let your car warm up before heading out, make sure you're doing it right.

Statistics show that 31% of us Coloradans admit to leaving our cars running unattended. While you may leave your car for only 30 seconds, it only takes 10 seconds for a thief to steal your car. That's why it's illegal to leave your car unlocked and unattended.

From January 26, 2020, through February 1, 2020, 'Puffer Week,' the Loveland Police will be looking for cars that are running without a driver. If you have the proper safety precautions in place, no problem. If not, you'll be getting a Class B traffic citation.

If you have a remote start or a fob that locks the car or one of those steering wheel locks, you'll be O.K.

But they'll also be looking to see if your car is parked correctly while on any grade; seeing that you have the wheels turned so that the car won't roll down that grade, causing an accident.

So, IF you need to warm up your car, lock it and check the wheels.
