The new testing includes using an FBI database that comprises genetic profiles from more than 15.1 million known offenders.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Garnett said, “What I am confident about is that the Ramsey case is more than a DNA case, and to ever have a prosecutable case, we have to have several different pieces of evidence come together."

The Ramsey case has been brought back into the spotlight in its 20th year of remaining unsolved. JonBenet's brother, Burke Ramsey, appeared on Dr. Phil earlier this year, a CBS special also ran examining the evidence in the case. The CBS special prompted Burke to file a $150 million defamation lawsuit against the forensic pathologist featured in the show, Dr. Werner Spitz. In the special, Spitz theorized that Burke Ramsey killed his sister. Despite no charges ever being filed against Burke.
