While it's been a mild start to October along the Front Range, the first sign of winter weather is set to arrive in Northern Colorado this week. According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect starting 6 a.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday near Estes Park, as well as near the Red Feather Lakes area.

'Storm totals from two to nine inches, heaviest north I-70,' the National Weather Service tweeted. 'West winds 20 to 35 MPH will occur, with gusts to 60 MPH above timberline.' The forecast says wind will be strongest between Tuesday and Wednesday. While snow isn't expected in Estes Park on Wednesday, the National Weather Service says the town could experience wind gusts up to 50 MPH.

Down here in the Fort Collins area, the National Weather Service says there is also a possibility of snow overnight on Tuesday, however most likely little or now accumulation. Overnight snow is also possible on Thursday, but no prediction on just how much, yet. The Fort Collins area will drop below freezing overnight starting on Wednesday. You can see the full forecast from the National Weather Service here.
