One Government Agency on Twitter is Super Entertaining

Whoever is in charge of the Twitter account for the National Park Service, bravo. Your tweets have been nothing short of gold for as long as I can recall. They are funny, engaging, and they will also teach you a thing or two as well.

Usually, the first post is something funny, snarky, or along the lines of a parody. The National Park Service then replies to the first tweet with interesting information. The meme-worthy marmot has a cute caption, but the National Park Service still fulfills the education aspect by tweeting the following:

Dude, nice marmot! Did you know the yellow-bellied marmot is nicknamed a “whistle pig” for the high-pitched chirp they make to warn other group members about potential threats?

 

Marmots are large ground squirrels that typically live on grass plains and mountains. They are famous for digging burrows and hibernate for a significant part of the year.

Marmots are the weightiest among squirrels, with a body weight ranging from 4.4-24.2 lb. They have short but strong legs that are ideal for digging and that fur comes in various shades (mostly gray, some brown, also red-yellow).
