From books and supplies to meals and dorms, the college experience is anything but cheap. And with all the stuff you need to live and get by in class, the costs add up quick! But even before you get into college, there's fees you have to pay first, just to apply. Application fees can range anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on the school, and with many prospective students setting their sights on more than one college, they could easily end up spending hundreds of dollars on application fees.

To combat this issue and increase access for students who want to pursue college degree's, Governor John Hickenlooper has designated October 30 as Colorado Free Application Day. From 12:01 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. on this day, more than 30 public colleges, universities and private institutions in the state will be waiving their usual application fees.
