Pink Floyd might have denied rumors they would be appearing at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, but they can’t deny the flattery that comes when someone creates a tribute to one of their most famous albums covers — with socks!

The mind behind the Tumblr Famous Album Covers Recreated With My Socks has re-created a couple of classic rock’s most iconic album covers using a variety of colored socks. That’s right, they used clothing from the, at often times, dirtiest and smelliest part of our bodies to recreate famous covers from the likes of Pink Floyd and Velvet Underground.

Specifically, they’ve taken on the prism image from Floyd’s 1973 masterpiece ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ and the Velvet’s 1967 debut album ‘The Velvet Underground & Nico.’ And you thought wearing, washing and losing half of each pair was all you could do with your footwear!

In viewing the artwork we’ve noticed two things. First off, this person has a lot of different colored socks and must have spent a lot of money at Walmart. Secondly, they’re actually pretty talented at this oddly creative new art form. We imagine they’re the best in the world at this, at least so far.

They’ve also done sock versions of album covers from other genres from Kanye West‘s ’808 & Heartbreak’ to the Strokes‘ debut ‘Is This It.’ The pieces range from the colorful and beautiful arrangement that makes up ‘Dark Side’ to the simple, yet somewhat dirtied-looking Strokes album. We’re not judging too harshly, we’re just saying clean your socks, man!
