The Loveland Police Department is searching for a suspect allegedly involved in an assault that occurred on a bike path over the weekend.

During the late afternoon on Sunday, May 5, Loveland Police officers responded to a female who had called in to report unlawful sexual contact that had occurred while she was walking on a bike path between North Taft and North Wilson, along the Big Thompson River. According to the female, a male had approached her from behind, grabbing the outside of her clothing. He fled when another pedestrian approached the two, but it's frightening to think what could have possibly happened, had the other person not showed up.

Police say the suspect was described as wearing a mask, tan coat, beanie hat, and carrying a back pack. It's possible that he has red hair. The male was on a bicycle, and fled eastbound on the path following the incident. Anyone who may have seen someone matching this description on the bike path between 3-4 p.m. on Sunday should call Detective Brad Templeman at 970-962-2290. Crime Stoppers may also be reached at 970-221-6868 – callers will remain anonymous and are possibly eligible for a cash reward
