The weather definitely heated up quickly in Northern Colorado this last week, and as the number of tubers taking to the Poudre River to cool off started to increase, so did the amount of rescues by Poudre Fire Authority.

On Tuesday, crews rescued a stranded tuber from a small island in the river near Old Town. Fortunately, she was uninjured. On Wednesday afternoon, at the same time the PFA was responding to a structure fire, crews were also dispatched for a water rescue when a Poudre River tuber was reported missing.

PFA tweeted Wednesday evening that the missing tuber was located, uninjured.

'They were luckily able to make their way to shore after becoming separated from their tube,' PFA said. 'Most units have cleared the scene.'

On Thursday morning, after three swiftwater rescues this week alone, PFA warned that the Poudre River is not safe for tubing right now. Last summer, by July 4, PFA had done 21 water rescues, and tragically, one tuber died.

If you want to cool off in the water, the whitewater park near Old Town is open and free to the public. The City of Fort Collins says the park grants 'safe access to the river' and is for adults and kids of all ages.
